Program:

* 7.46 a.m. departure by express train to Tábor, here a change to the train to Milevsko (possibility of boarding also in Vršovice or Zahradní Město)

* 9.33 arrival in Milevsko

* throughout the day program - Milevské masquerades - Carnival fair, Pig slaughter feast, at 2 p.m. main masquerade parade - record attempt The largest parade of masks in the Czech Republic

* the possibility to visit the Milevský monastery of the Premonstratensian brothers with a basilica, 1 km away, or the Museum of Milevsko Masquerades - right on the square

* 16.22 - departure by train from Milevsko with a change in Tábor to Prague

* 18.10 - arrival in Prague Main Station (possibility of exiting along the route)

MILEVSKÉ MASQUERADES

The Milevské masquerades are a traditional carnival procession that has a history since 1862 and is one of the most important folk traditions in the Czech Republic. This parade takes place annually and is listed among the intangible goods of traditional folk culture. The Milevsko masquerades evolved from folk games and today attract thousands of visitors from all over the country.

 

 

MONASTERY OF THE PREMONSTRATENSIAN BROTHERS

Milevský klášť is a Premonstratensian monastery on the northeastern outskirts of the town of Milevsko in the Písek District. It was founded between 1184 and 1187, making it the oldest monastery in South Bohemia. It was founded by Jiří of Milevsko. The future abbot Jarloch and his monks also participated in its construction.
